When asked about what is important to a city, a common answer would be to maintain the environment and the natural beauty of the area. This is because a healthy environment nurtures and inspires locals and visitors alike. 

This was the inspiration behind Federal Bank's Kochi Marathon. It aimed to send the community a message about the importance of health as well as invoke a sense of eco-consciousness.
While the running aspect of the marathon addressed the importance of staying active, the route was set along the backwaters of Kerala, showing participants just how important it is to be mindful of their surroundings and how humans affect them. 

The event
To cater to beginner runners as well as experts, the Kochi Marathon was divided into various categories such as the full marathon, half marathon, 10km, and a special 3km Green Run.
The race was organised by Federal Bank in partnership with Cleonett and SportzPRO, and backed by the Kerala Tourism Department. Noted local personalities such as Justice Devan Ramachandran and MLAs T. J. Vinod and P. V. Sreenijin were present at the inauguration.

A total of 6,000+ eager runners from all walks of life participated in the Kochi Marathon, taking home with them an experience and a lesson to remember for the rest of their lives. Youngsters and seniors, kids and adults, and locals as well as tourists alike, took part enthusiastically, creating memories for themselves as well as the others they interacted with.
