How to open an account?

Insurance Protection

  • Insurance coverage is provided by HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited
  • Customers in the age group of 18–65 will only be covered.
  • Insurance coverage will be live from the 60th day of customer onboarding (i.e., account opening or upgrade date) and will be valid until the validity date of the policy.
  • Cover will be valid only if the customer has maintained the NRE Eve+ AMB eligibility criteria for the last three months from the claim date.
  • For PA (Accidental Death/ Permanent Disablement)- the base coverage will be Rs 5 lakhs, and the sum insured will be increased by Rs 1 lakhs for every POS (Point of Sale) or e-commerce transaction, up to a maximum of Rs 20 lakhs. Hence the total coverage is Rs 25 Lakhs (Base + Accelerated).
  • Insurance coverage will be automatically renewed every year if the customer meets the NRE Eve+ eligibility criteria.
  • Insurance coverage (accelerated) will be available only for Master NRE Eve+ debit card holders.

3.    Basis of Sum Insured: Individual

4.    Age Group: 18-65 years

5.    Claim shall be payable under the policy only if monthly average balance of Rs. 50,000/- is maintained for 3 months prior to the date of loss.

6.    For Accidental Death and Permanent Disablement (Table C) coverage, the following condition should be fulfilled:

  • Step 1: Base Cover: Rs. 500,000 per card by doing one ATM / POS / e-commerce transaction up to 50 days prior to the date of loss.
  • Step 2: Accelerated cover up to Rs. 2,000,000 (Total of Base + Accelerated to be Rs. 2,500,000 max). For every additional POS / e-commerce transaction carried out through the Primary Debit Card 365 days prior to the date of loss, sum insured increases by Rs. 100,000/- per transaction.

7.    Air Accident is covered only if the Airline tickets are purchased using the Federal Bank NRE Eve + debit cards.

8.    Waiting Period for Hospital Cash

  • General: 30 Days
  • Specific Illness and Treatment: 24 Months
  • Pre-existing Diseases: 48 Months

9.    Fraudulent charge coverage (i.e. unauthorized charges made on bank account, through card: (i) in-store, (ii) telephone, (iii) ATM withdrawals, and/or (iv) on-line purchase(s), using payment card information) for NRE Eve + clients will be valid only for those Celesta cards applied while account opening or upgrading. If the cards are applied during the interim period, the protection plan will not be applicable for the first year. Whereas the same shall be eligible depending on the card status on the subsequent year onwards.

10.    Accidental claims shall be reported to the Insurance Company within 7 days from the date of the accident/illness/fraudulent charge, as the case may be.

The decision of the Bank and HDFC ERGO  ,as mutually agreed upon, in all matters shall be final and binding on all persons.

2.    Daily Hospital Cash – Insured / Nominee / Legal Heir

3.    Fraudulent charge cover - Insured

All supporting documents relating to the claim must be submitted to the company within sixty (60) days from the date of loss & the claim intimation should be within Thirty (30) days from the date of Loss.

The insurance will be applicable and in-force only after 60 days of the account opening.

    4. Post mortem if conducted/FSL (Forensic science laboratory)report – To check for drug abuse/intoxication

    5. MLC/FIR copy/ certificate regarding abuse of Alcohol/intoxicating agent if applicable.

ii.    Claims documents to be submitted for Permanent Disablement

    1. Medical Practitioner’s Report

    2. Medico Legal Certificate

    3. Investigation Reports like Laboratory test, X-rays and reports essential of confirmation of the Injury;

    4. Disability certificate from a government certified Medical Practitioner or government Hospital confirming the extent and nature of disability;

    5. Discharge summary from the Hospital Medical reports, case histories, investigation reports, treatment papers as applicable.

    6. Letter from treating Medical Practitioner mentioning the reason and date for disablement and confirming the disablement.

    7. MLC/FIR copy/ certificate regarding abuse of Alcohol/intoxicating agent if applicable.
